Biography:

Max Herrmann Mahlmann (born April 4, 1912 in Hamburg, † 2000) was a German Constructivist painter. Mahlmann studied from 1934 to 1938 as a student of Richard Müller at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden and initially worked as a stage painter and commercial artist. During the Second World War he was a soldier in the Russian campaign. Mahlmann - heavily influenced by Wassili Kandinsky and Josef Albers - turned to non-objective painting after 1945 and concentrated on geometric-constructivist compositions.
