Gianni Colombo: 4 cerchi attraversano un quadrato in 12 tempi (Four Circles Traverse a Square in 12 Times) (1961)

This captivating silkscreen print with thick plastic foil by Gianni Colombo embodies the dynamic spirit of Kinetic art. Measuring 28 x 21 cm (framed under passepartout: 35 x 35 x 4 cm), the artwork showcases Colombo's exploration of movement and optical illusion. Four circles appear to traverse a square, creating a sense of shifting perspectives and temporal progression.

Published by Edition Panderma, Basel, in 1961, this piece is signed with a ballpoint pen and comes from a distinguished provenance, including Edition Panderma and a private Basel collection. The print is in original condition, with the plastic exhibiting minor age-related structural deformation and the signature subtly engraved. It is presented in a black box frame with a passepartout (featuring a small, nearly invisible spot).

Gianni Colombo (Milan, 1937-1993) was a pivotal figure in Italian Kinetic art and a member of the Arte Programmata movement. A founder of the "T Group" (1959-60), associated with the international "Nouvelle Tendence" movement, Colombo held his first solo exhibition at Galleria Pater, Milan, in 1960. This silkscreen print offers a compelling glimpse into his innovative artistic practice.
